Microsoft is launching a new Wi-Fi app that will give access to nearby internet connections.

The tech company let slip that the new service is on its way when it accidentally put live a website called microsoftwifi.com.

Though details have now been removed – the website says simply "coming soon" – it outlined a service that will be available across Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and Windows Phone, VentureBeat reports.

It's thought the service will replace its existing Microsoft Skype Wi-Fi, which offers Skype subscribers access to more than two million hotspots around the world on a pay-per-minute basis.

Microsoft Wi-Fi will expand this with 10m hotspots in 130 countries, and will be available to existing Skype Wi-Fi customers, businesses (and their staff) using Microsoft Office 360 Enterprise and other customers given a Wi-Fi special offer from the tech company, according to VentureBeat.

“We can confirm that we are working on a new service, called Microsoft WiFi, that will bring hassle-free Wi-Fi to millions. We look forward to sharing additional detail when available,” a Microsoft spokesperson told the website.
