London IAAF World Athletics Championships 2017: How to get tickets and how much they’ll cost – full details and competition schedule announced

Over 1.5m tickets to next summer's World Athletics Championships and World ParaAthletics Championships will be available for Londoners to buy from 1 August.

Fans will be able to apply for tickets priced between £20 to £125 via a public ballot open from 1 August to 22 August.

Any unsold tickets will then be put back on sale in September.

All child tickets are priced at £9.58 – a tribute to the current 100m record held by Usain Bolt – while the cheapest ticket to top events on Saturday and Sunday evenings, such as the 100m final likely to feature the Jamaican speedster, is set at £45.

"Our overall approach to ticketing across both Championships has three priorities," explained London 2017 managing director Cherry Alexander.

"We want to fill the venue with passionate crowds, we want prices to be accessible to the athletics family, all sports fans and new spectators; and we wanted the timetable to allow as may people as possible to attend the biggest sporting event since London 2012.

"I really believe we have achieved this and it is going to be an incredible summer of world athletics."

A selection of tickets will also be priced to reflect World Records set by athletes at previous IAAF World Championships. Tickets for one session at one price point will be available for: £12.91 (Colin Jackson’s 110m hurdles), £18.29 (Jonathan Edwards’ triple jump) £52.74 (Sally Gunnell’s 400m hurdles) as well as the Bolt-themed £9.58 for kids.

"Today's launch of tickets sales with an innovative timetable and accessible prices offers everyone a great opportunity to witness the world's best athletes live in action," said IAAF president Sebastian Coe.

When and where are the World Championships?

The IAAF World Championships take place at the Olympic Stadium from 4-12 August 2017.

The World ParaAthletics Championships take place a fortnight earlier at the same venue from 14-23 July.
