Aer Lingus CEO Christoph Mueller to exit in 2015
Aer Lingus chief executive Christoph Mueller is to step down next year after five years at the helm of the Irish airline.
The German has overseen the carrier’s return to profit and the rejection of an attempted takeover by rival airline Ryanair.
Chairman Colm Barrington said of the departure:
“Under Christoph’s strategic leadership, Aer Lingus has been transformed into a strong, consistently profitable airline with a clear strategic direction, a resilient business model as a value carrier and an improved cost base.”
It follows the departure of Aer Lingus finance chief Andrew Macfarlane in March. Delivery company TNT's finance man Bernard Bot was named as his successor last week.
Aer Lingus will begin the hunt for a new chief executive immediately.
