Aim’s biggest champs flock to Old Billingsgate for PwC awards night

It was the heroes of the junior market’s turn for a night on the tiles last night, as the annual PwC Aim awards descended on Old Billingsgate.

Team Shore Capital were there in force as sponsors of the transaction of the year award. The excitement of the gongs aside, it had been quite the day for managing director Graham Shore. The brokers had also pressed go on their rebranded website and, somewhat importantly, Shore’s vineyard Domaine Vintur had harvested the last of its grapes.

“It’s all pressing from here on in,” Shore told The Capitalist.

Transaction of the year went to Alternative Networks, company of the year was Utilitywise, research of the year went to WH Ireland, entrepreneur of the year was Edmund Truell of Tungsten Corp and technology of the year went to Rex Bionics, the company making strides with its robotic legs for the paralysed.

Recently stepped-down chief exec Jeremy Curnock-Cook, former head of the Rothschild Bioscience Unit, collected the award – his swan-song perhaps?

The last word, however, was had by comedian Michael McIntyre – who sent Old Billingsgate chuckling home.
