The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has launched an investigation after footage emerged showing British soldiers firing at a poster of Jeremy Corbyn.

The video, first reported by Sky News, shows four soldiers firing weapons into the distance, and later pans round to show a poster of the Labour leader being used as the target. A caption on the video reads: “Happy with that”.

The footage, thought to have been taken at a shooting range in Kabul, circulated on social media this morning. The MoD has confirmed it is authentic and said it has opened an investigation.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with defence minister Tobias Ellwood branding the behaviour “unacceptable”.

A British Army spokesperson said: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media, this behaviour is totally unacceptable and falls well below the high standards the army expects.”

The weapons fired simulated paint rounds rather than bullets, Sky reported, citing a senior defence source. “This is a terrible look,” the source said.
