Limited edition walnut projector

This limited edition walnut projector is part of a “time-capsule” concept album by US composer Deru This stunning carved walnut handheld projector is one of only 500 available. It was designed as part of a multimedia project by Emmy-award winning American composer Deru. The unit will house a “time-capsule” collection of letters and short films, as well as the artist’s new album, 1979. “Turn the box on, and the album will beam to your walls,” says Deru, AKA Benjamin Wynn. “It’s about memories, nostalgia, and the human experience. Memory is one of our greatest gifts; it gives us access to time, to identity, to dreams. I have long explored memories through stories and songs.” The nine films stored on the device correspond to each of the atmospheric tracks, all of which are themed around the year 1979. The artist’s eclectic style combines hip-hop, electronic, world music and classical composition. The hand-carved projector can also be used to play regular media and features a built-in speaker, rechargeable battery and micro SD and USB connectivity.

The projector is available now for $500 from shop.1979.la/the-obverse-box.

The Venus Family coffee machine from Victoria Arduino

Anthony Trollope asked the question, “what on earth could be more luxurious than a sofa, a book and a cup of coffee?” The answer: a sofa, a book and a cup of coffee made with a Victoria Arduino espresso machine. The first Victoria Arduino was created in Turin in 1905 by Pier Teresio Arduino, who dedicated his creation to his wife. Since then, “Victoria Arduino” has been synonymous with exquisite Italian design and the best cappuccinos known to man. The quality of the bean is just the start – you’ve got to have a machine that knows what to do with it. The Venus Family (pictured), which has 983 parts and was built by 11 craftsmen, is made from hammered brass and represents the finest in Italian craftsmanship. It doesn’t come cheap, but then again, no price is too high for a good cup of coffee.

The Venus Family is available for £910, coffeeitalia.co.uk

Limited edition Marque One chest of drawers

This towering chest of drawers isn’t just a piece of furniture, but a masterclass in contemporary British design. Standing at just over 7ft high, the Marque One Unit dominates a room while those around it gaze up, reflected in its lacquer. This imposing piece is the product of hours of craftsmanship and over 30 years of experience. Acclaimed interior designer Grazyna Solland created the high-concept chest, which is built by hand in her workshop in Norfolk. The exterior comprises 13 different veneers cut into 21 designs, covering all four dimensions of the unit. Open any one of the 10 individually sized drawers and discover a pop of colour. Highly polished and lacquered inside and out, they are run on traditional solid walnut runners. When closed, the multi-layered designs blend together seamlessly, combining the best of the old and the new in joinery, design and carpentry.

The limited edition Marque One Unit is being sold at Sollands Studio, South Audley Street, Mayfair, as part of the Gra Collection. Priced on application
