US media giant CBS yesterday said it was facing an investigation over allegations of sexual misconduct relating to its former boss Leslie Moonves.

Moonves stepped down earlier this month after the New Yorker magazine published new allegations from several different women.

The firm said in a regulatory filing yesterday it was facing investigations from the New York County District Attorney's Office and the New York City Commission over the allegations.

"The company may receive additional related regulatory and investigative enquiries from these and other entities in the future," the filing said. "The company is cooperating with the ongoing investigation and related enquiries."

Shortly after the New Yorker first published allegations against Moonves in July, CBS hired two law firms, Covington & Burling and Debevoise & Plimpton, to investigate the claims. The results of these investigations are still yet to be published.

Last week, CBS confirmed it had put Richard Parsons in place as interim chief exec while the company worked to find a replacement for Moonves.
