RBC Wealth Management
RBC Wealth Management has hired Shervin Mellegard, Samuel Palmer and Neil Jeffries as a managing director, director and wealth manager respectively in the UK domestic team.
Mellegard, pictured, has over 20 years of experience in financial services, with his career having spanned commodities futures and securities trading at Merrill Lynch to private banking at Barclays Wealth in London.
Palmer and Jeffries both join from UBS.
Financial Services Authority
The City regulator has hired Graham Halliday as a senior adviser, focusing specifically on retail banking.
Halliday was most recently director of strategy and business affairs at Monitise, and has also worked as director of banking and financial services at the Post Office and as a regional managing director at NatWest.
Société Générale
The bank has appointed three new senior bankers within its coverage and investment banking division in London.
Rolf Petermann, who becomes head of the German and Austrian financial institutions’ coverage team, joins from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he was co-head of the European financial institutions group.
Vitcheslava Baranicka, formerly managing director responsible for oil and gas firms, will be in charge of Russian and Central Asian energy sector clients, while Dania Seiglie, formerly managing director covering oil and gas firms in the energy and environmental group, will look after British energy corporates.
Jones Lang LaSalle
The property group has hired James Finnis as head of the English national office agency team.
Finnis has led the firm’s southern offices team for the past three years and works with a broad range of clients including leading investors, developers, funds and corporate clients. He succeeds John Izett, who has co-led the national offices team since joining from Rogers Chapman in 2006.
LGIM
Legal & General Investment Management has appointed Paul Murray as head of investment risk.
Murray will be responsible for the independent measuring, monitoring and development of risk for the firm’s active fund management business. He joins from F&C Asset Management, where was head of risk management for alternative investments.
Prior to that, he worked in senior risk management roles for Synapse Investment Management, Rothschild Australia and ANZ Bank.
Berwin Leighton Paisner
The law firm has relocated Caroline Pope, previously a construction partner in its London office, to Abu Dhabi, where it opened an office in March this year. She has been a partner at the firm since 2001.
