City skyscraper Twentytwo set to lure in another insurer

The City's tallest skyscraper is expected to land yet another major insurance tenant in the coming weeks, with news this afternoon that broker THB Group is in talks to rent 35,000 square feet of space.

THB Group is set to become the third insurer to move into 22 Bishopsgate, known as Twentytwo, once construction is completed late next year.

US insurer Hiscox and FTSE 250 firm Beazley have both already announced plans to take several floors at at the 62-storey building.

AXA IM, which manages the skyscraper, also revealed last month that it plans to relocate its two London office locations to the flagship development in the eastern cluster of the City.

The news, first reported by PropertyWeek, comes several days after plans were revealed for a tower that would exceed the height of Twentytwo to become the City’s tallest building.

On Monday developers submitted plans to build a dramatic 305-metre viewing attraction dubbed ‘The Tulip’, which would be built alongside The Gherkin in the heart of London’s financial district.

Unlike its neighbouring skyscrapers throughout the Square Mile, The Tulip, which is just one metre smaller than the Shard, has not been proposed with office space in mind.

Instead, the building would act as a “new public cultural and tourist attraction” to draw in visitors and schoolchildren to the City.
