EasyJet recruits 1,200 new cabin crew despite challenging trading
EasyJet has announced that it is going to recruit 1,200 new staff despite recently reporting on a "difficult" trading environment.
The airline said it is going to recruit 1,200 new permanent and fixed-term cabin crew positions as the "airline continues to grow".
Around half of these positions will be based in the UK.

Tina Milton, easyJet’s head of cabin service, said: “Being cabin crew is a very rewarding role – our teams are extremely professional and energetic with a real sense of fun. EasyJet is a fantastic company to work for with everyone across the airline working together as one team to ensure we provide the highest standard of service for our passengers.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming more people into our growing team.”
The news comes after easyJet’s announcement earlier this year that it was opening recruitment for more than 350 pilots and providing career opportunities for more than 150 of its current first officers to be promoted into captain positions.

However, the airline appears to be taking off during turbulence. Since the referendum, easyJet has been the FTSE 100's largest faller as recent events in Turkey and France have hit consumer confidence.
The budget airline has also blamed a trading dip on the Brexit vote itself, saying this week in a trading statement that currency volatility since the referendum had also made travellers think twice about booking flights.
When the airline reported its third quarter earnings earlier this month it said that the series of recent events had hit consumer confidence and contributed to a "difficult" trading environment.
