Ex-Aviva chief Moss ventures back into City

FORMER Aviva boss Andrew Moss has re-emerged in his first role since being deposed from the FTSE 100 insurer two years ago.

Moss, who was ousted from the company in 2012 after a revolt from shareholders, will join risk consultancy Parker Fitzgerald as chairman of the advisory board, the company confirmed yesterday.

“His market knowledge and insight across the three core sectors we service – banking, insurance and asset management – make him a hugely valuable addition to the firm,” the group’s global managing partner Scott Vincent said.

Moss held the top job at Aviva between 2007 and 2012 but quit after he lost a shareholder vote on his pay package during the so-called shareholder spring that swept the City two years ago last month.

He will advise senior management of Parker Fitzgerald – founded in 2009 by Vincent, a former RBS programme director – on the firm’s strategy and performance.

“Having seen first hand the unprecedented level of regulatory change underway in the financial services industry, it is my firm belief that boards are yet to fully appreciate the long-term impacts of new regulation on their business models,” Moss said.

Moss was previously chief financial officer of insurance hub Lloyd’s of London and also held senior positions within HSBC, latterly as chief financial officer in the investment banking division.
