Finsbury’s 20th birthday bash pulls the stars at Tate Britain
The cavernous hall of Tate Britain was filled with the chatter of countless City bigwigs last night, as friends and clients of Finsbury headed to Pimlico for the firm’s 20th anniversary party. The likes of easyJet boss Carolyn McCall, RSA’s Stephen Hester, shadow business minister Chuka Umunna, Legal & General boss Nigel Wilson and WPP chairman Philip Lader all enjoyed the canapes and free-flowing glasses of bubbly.
The Capitalist chatted to an admittedly tired Nomura comms head Sundeep Tucker, who’d had a long night thanks to European CEO Jeremy Bennett’s surprise exit. “It was a big day,” he sighed.
Sir Roger Carr, meanwhile, was full of praise for Finsbury and its double decade. “What a remarkable 20 years,” he told The Capitalist. “I was the first client of Finsbury, so I have a sense of paternal pride in the development of Finsbury and Roland.”
Finsbury boss Roland Rudd was a subtle centre of attention, greeting old friends from his years of university, journalism and his time as head of the high-achieving PR outfit.
“He’s always been a first class professional and out of that grew a friendship,” smiled Sir Roger, speaking of Rudd. And what a lot of friends he has.
