Natwest will open the first of eight business accelerator hubs in Birmingham this morning, housing 80 businesses as part of a programme to support entrepreneurs around the UK.

The hub will host a rolling six month programme for start-ups, in partnership with Entrepreneurial Spark, which will include growth awards of up to £50,000 for the small businesses and mentoring and networking opportunities with investors and business advisors.

“This is good for them, good for us and ultimately good for the economy here in the Midlands,” said Natwest commercial and private banking chief executive Alison Rose.

“We have a trusted partner in Entrepreneurial Spark and together we can really make a difference to those businesses at the start of their journey.”

Natwest’s next two hubs, which the group is planning to situate in its existing premises, will be opening in Bristol and Leeds this summer.
