Chancellor George Osborne has joined the list of politicians who have made their tax return public today.

Osborne published a copy of a summary of his tax return for the 2014/15 tax year, revealing that he made a taxable income of £198,738 and paid income tax of £72,210.

His income is compromised of £120,526 in taxable pay and earnings from his roles as MP and chancellor, £33,562 from net rental income, £44,647 in dividend income and just £3 as bank interest.

Yesterday, Nicola Sturgeon and Prime Minister David Cameron both published details of their tax returns, with the former promising to do so as long as she remained First Minister.

Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson also made the details of their returns public today.

However, yesterday, Treasury officials had not confirmed whether Osborne would soon be sharing his papers as well.

In a speech to parliament, the Prime Minister stated that no MP would be obliged to publish their tax returns.

The Prime Minister, whose late father's name appear in the leaked Panama Papers, published six years worth of tax return details, while Osborne and Sturgeon have only revealed the details of the most recent year.
