Get your game on for the Glorious Twelfth

The Glorious Twelfth has come around again and it looks to be a bountiful season following a warm winter and a dry spring. Since 1831, 12 August has been the official start of the red grouse shooting season, the date when marksmen from up and down the country reach for their guns, don their wellies and head to the moors of Scotland, Yorkshire and beyond.
Early reports from control sites suggest an increase in grouse numbers, so you don’t need to worry about being short of targets if you are planning on doing some shooting this year.
One thing you should be worried about is your kit – it’s no good setting out on a shooting weekend if you don’t have equipment to do the business when you get there. This is where William & Son can help. With quality guns and accessories, a visit to the British gunmaker and leatherwear company is a must before you pull the trigger.
Here are some highlights from this season’s collection…

Burntwood tweed jacket
A classic tweed that’s as stylish as it is practical. Even if you can’t shoot for toffee, you’ll be the coolest guy on the estate
£560

Burntwood tweed waistcoat
A lightly-checked tweed with alacantara patches and large pockets
£365

Leather cartridge bag
A bag with easy access to your cartridges is a must. William & Son has a selection of sizes
available
From £275

Burntwood tweed field coat
Warm enough to keep you cosy even as the autumn draws in and the bitterly cold mists descend over the moors
£675

Burntwood tweed breeks
These classic tweed trousers are just the ticket for getting down and dirty on the moor
£365

Cotton shirt
This lightweight, natural material would look equally at home under a Paul Smith suit in the office as it will under your tweed
hunting gear
£95
