Google just lifted the lid on its new investment arm

Tech giant Google has finally given some details on Google Capital – a new arm intended to "invest in the most promising companies of tomorrow".

The company, famous for its search engine, says that its approach will have one important difference to its established Google Ventures team.

While Ventures is all about the early-stage investments, Capital will be "looking to invest in companies solely as they hit their growth phase," says David Lawee, a partner at Capital.

Lawee was previously Google's vice president of google development, where he was responsbile for managing the tech company's acquisitions and investments.

Over the five year period that Lawee was in the job Google acquired approximately 100 companies, according to Google Capital's new website.

Google have highlighted some recent investments, including SurveyMonkey, Lending Club, and Renaissance Learning.
