Crystal Palace v Arsenal: Gunners to bounce back from surprise opening defeat

Former glazier Alan Pardew has moved on from installing windows as a part-time player to breaking through glass ceilings as a manager.

He might not be everyone’s cup of tea but his CV bears comparison with any other British manager in the Premier League.

Pardew led Reading and West Ham to promotions, took Newcastle into Europe, and last season he turned Crystal Palace from relegation certainties to top half finishers in the blink of an eye.

After recording their best ever Premier League position of 10th, Palace carried on from where they left off with a 3-1 victory at Norwich on the opening weekend.

With the Eagles soaring, Arsenal had their wings clipped in their surprise 2-0 home defeat to West Ham.

A visit to Selhurst Park is never a recommended medicine for a team trying to get over a dodgy result and Pardew’s men will have their backers at 4/1.

However, let’s not forget that the Gunners were celebrating winning the Community Shield the weekend before and they are a lot better than they showed against the Hammers.

They won both matches against Palace 2-1 last season and have the class to return to winning ways on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s men look a decent price to claim the three points at 8/11 with Betway.
