BURNLEY (1) VS ARSENAL (1)

ERRATIC Arsenal missed out on the chance to close to within three points of second-place Manchester United after being held by plucky Burnley.

Buoyed by their victory at Liverpool on Sunday, the Gunners started brightly and took just seven minutes the break down their hosts – Cesc Fabregas popping up to fire low into the bottom corner from close range.

But Burnley were never fazed by their visitors and were worthy of their equaliser on 28 minutes. Thomas Vermaelen was adjudged to have brought down Andre Bikey in the box and Graham Alexander made no mistake from the spot.

Chris Eagles later hit a post for Burnley, while Steven Fletcher had a goal ruled out, but the Gunners held on for a share of the spoils.
