Gunners warned to keep feet on the ground

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has warned his side must keep their feet on the ground if they are to stay in touch in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday – a result which moved
them back up to third in the table, just six points behind leaders Chelsea with a game in hand.

But although proud of the way his side have hauled their way back into the leading pack, wily Wenger has warned his troops not to get too carried away, starting with a tricky trip to Burnley tomorrow night.

“The win at Liverpool is a very significant victory, but only if it is followed by good results now over the next few weeks,” the Frenchman said. “We have to go to Burnley now on Wednesday, a difficult game against a side very good at home, and then we have Hull at the Emirates on Saturday. We must maintain our current form in those games.

“We have shown that we have mental strength. For us, we are back into contention following the other results from Saturday. We knew beforehand that we had to take advantage of others dropping points. We are in a good position with a game in hand and mentally it was a massive game for us.”

Striker Theo Walcott, meanwhile, has hailed the character of his side after Sunday’s win. “Results like this show we are no pushovers,” he said.

“Being 1-0 down at Anfield, it is a hostile place, but we showed great spirit to come back and win.”
