Hong Kong Racing Tips: Lor’s Mouse has more than a squeak

Frankie Lor's been in excellent form

WHILE trainers’ Caspar Fownes and John Size have hogged the limelight in recent weeks in their race for the championship title, it’s third placed Frankie Lor who should be taking some of the plaudits.

Lor, in only his fourth season with a trainers’ licence, needs only one more win to equal his best total of 65 wins, set in the 2017/18 season.

The former assistant to champions John Moore and John Size has been the most consistent handler in Hong Kong over the past few months, and his recent record bears testimony to that fact.

Lor has saddled winners at nine of the last ten meetings and has hit the bullseye five times from his last 32 runners.

The quietly spoken trainer still looks to have plenty of ammunition at his disposal before the season ends and, with seven raiders at Sha Tin, will surely be disappointed if he leaves the track empty-handed.

Last start winner SPEEDY MOUSE looks to be his best chance, when the four-year-old lines-up in the Sportsmanship Handicap (10:15am) over six furlongs.

This former Irish-trained galloper finally got his act together when powering away from his rivals in a smart time in May and, despite a penalty, is capable of a repeat.

This won’t be easy with the likes of The Golden Scenery, an eye-catcher on his debut, and useful handicapper Regency Bo Bo in opposition, but Speedy Mouse can prove better than his present handicap mark.

POINTERS

Speedy Mouse       10.15am      Sha Tin
