Rugby World Cup: where in London you can watch it

THE games may not be taking place at the easiest time of day for those of us unable to travel to New Zealand, but that’s not going to stop fans coming out in force to support the home teams. Luckily, there are plenty of pubs and bars in London offering breakfast, sandwiches and good cheer, starting with tomorrow’s opener against Argentina. See you at the bar!

ROXY BAR & SCREEN, BOROUGH
One of the more popular places to watch sport in central London, expect this to be very busy – book a ticket in advance for £15 with breakfast included, or pay £10 on the door without breakfast. 128-123 Borough High St, SE1 1LB. www.roxybarandscreen.com

THE JAM TREE, KENSINGTON
The Jam Tree will be opening at 7am an dlaying on a special set brunch menu for rugby fans this saturday, and also on Saturday 24 September for England v Romania and Saturday 1 October for England v Scotland. £20 per person. 541 King’s Road, W14 0LB www.thejamtree.com

GERONIMO INNS
The quality pub group, which owns several of the most welcoming hostelries and nicest gastropubs around town, is ensuring all the big games will be shown on its pubs’ screens. There will be endless bacon butties, teas, coffees, hot chocolates, bloody marys, and beers for those who can handle it (well, this is rugby). Our Geronimo pick would be the terrific little Surprise on the back streets of Chelsea, the Phoenix in Victoria (an area where good pubs are hard enough to find as it is) and the Crown in Victoria Park. www.geronimo-inns.co.uk

THE AVALON
A beautiful gastropub between Clapham South and Balham, the Avalon offers a variety of screens, including one broadcasting in 3D, and a 47” screen in the courtyard for those who need a fag with their early morning rugby. 16 Balham Hill, SW12 9EB www.theavalonlondon.couk

ETM GROUP
Tom & Ed Martin’s pubs, which include the Well in Clerkenwell, the Gun in Docklands and the Cadogan Arms on the King’s Road, are offering private hire packages for games for £25 per person. www.etmgroup.co.uk
