Sir Philip Green is looking to save 1,000 staff in BHS concessions

Retail tycoon Sir Philip Green is trying to save 1,000 staff working throughout the stores of the embattled high street stores in the Arcadia concessions.

The retail boss is looking to relocate as many of the staff as possible in the shops of Arcadia's brands.

Green recently told MPs that he is working on a solution to the BHS pension crisis with Deliotte, saying he is not walking away from the £571m pension scheme deficit and intends to help workers who have been disadvantaged by the scheme coming under the stewardship of the Pension Protection Fund.

MPs have been quizzing Green on his involvement with the pension scheme – something he says he was not overseeing directly – and are also looking for answers on his company's structure.

The joint committee select into the collapse of BHS has written to Green's wife, Lady Tina Green, seeking clarity on the "complex and very opaque web" of private businesses owned by the Green family.

Iain Wright MP, chair of the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee, said: "These complicated arrangements make it very difficult to trace where all the funds have gone. We are keen to follow the money and look forward to Lady Green in her capacity as owner and ultimate beneficiary of these companies writing to us."
