Cox fires late to deny Rangers
FOOTBALL: A goal deep into injury time from striker Simon Cox denied managerless Queens Park Rangers a hard-earned victory at Championship high-fliers West Brom last night.

The visitors, with Steve Gallon and Mark Bircham in temporary charge, went ahead when Jonas Olsson’s attempted clearing header looped into his own net.

Kaspars Gorkss then doubled the lead before Jerome Thomas pulled one back.

Battling Rangers looked like hanging on, however, until Cox tapped in a 94th minute rebound to snatch a point for the second-placed Baggies.

Warriors land Cracknell
RUGBY UNION: England Sevens star Chris Cracknell has signed for Worcester Warriors until the end of the season.

The highly-rated 25-year-old scored two tries in England’s narrow defeat at the IRB Dubai Sevens tournament this month and has now joined up with his new team-mates at Sixways.

‘Big two set for Ascot showdown

RACING: Big Buck’s and Diamond Harry look set for an explosive head-to-head at Ascot on Saturday after featuring among 11 confirmations for the BGC Long Walk Hurdle.

Last season’s World Hurdle hero Big Buck’s made a winning return to action in the Long Distance

Hurdle at Newbury, while Grade One-winning novice Diamond Harry defied top-weight status to impress in the Timeform Betfair Racing Club “Fixed Brush” Handicap Hurdle at Haydock.

Both have their sights on a World Hurdle tilt in March.
Pakistan hit back in Napier

CRICKET: Pakistan’s batsmen are in sight of saving a series defeat against New Zealand after a patient display in a rain-interrupted fourth day’s play in Napier.
‘
The tourists rallied to 347-4 at the close of play, overturning a 248-run first innings deficit to give their side a chance in the third and deciding Test.
