Tory MP Steve Baker tells City workers to back Eurosceptic campaign

A leading Eurosceptic MP is urging City workers to put their names to a campaign pushing for radical reforms of Britain’s relationship with Brussels.

Steve Baker, the Conservative MP for Wycombe who yesterday said that he would lead a new anti-EU group called Conservatives for Britain, told CityAM that British businesses should be sceptical of the “EU establishment.”

Baker said that his new group is preparing for an “out” campaign ahead of an eventual in/out referendum on Britain’s membership in the EU.

He said that he already had the backing of more than 50 MPs, and could gain at least 50 more supporters in parliament in the coming days.

Baker added that while his group was independent of the similarly-titled Business for Britain, he encouraged business leaders to sign up to the Eurosceptic organisation.
