Trump u-turns on support for protesters and says demonstrations show great passion

It seems like a presidency under Donald Trump is going to be a rollercoaster and a half.

Around 10 hours after the president-elect tweeted his disdain for protests against his election, Trump appears to have had a rethink.

He said late last night that "professional protestors, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!" Sounds like something we'd expect him to say, right?

Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 11, 2016

But this morning he's seemed to go back on his thoughts, saying he loved the fact that the protestors "have passion for our great country".

Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 11, 2016

What's going on Donald? Is he perhaps trying to reach out to the quarter of the population that voted for Hillary Clinton?

The news comes after a second night of protests in the US against his election win. Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets again in opposition to Trump chanting "we reject the president-elect", and dozens have been arrested.

Critics worry about his policies on trade, Mexico, foreign affairs and the economy could have a detrimental effect on the US and the rest of the world. Some think he does not have the temperament to be president.

Trump met with the outgoing President, Barack Obama yesterday at the White House. Obama stressed he wanted to make the transition period as smooth as possible after Trump's shock win against Clinton earlier this week.
