London users are even worse off: they pay £7.75 for a three mile trip.

Uber offers a variety of different services, transporting customers with varying degrees of luxury. Not all its services are available in every city in which it operates. In London, for example, the cheapest option is Uber X – typically a small car such as a Toyota Prius. There are other options that carry heftier price tags, such as Uber exec or Uber Lux.

The Times analysed readily available information on Uber’s website, compiling the cheapest fares from each location in the UK the US and Europe.

 A spokesman for Uber said:

Regardless of location, we strive to ensure that our service is good value for riders whilst still providing our partner drivers with an attractive economic opportunity.
