Yelling joy but Farah collapses

ATHLETICS: Britain’s long distance hope Mo Farah had to be carried away on a stretcher after securing a second place finish at the European Cross Country Championships.
Farah, who won the event in 2006, collapsed at the line after missing out to Spain’s Alemayehu Bezabeh in Dublin.
It still proved a good day, however, for British athletes after Hayley Yelling secured a shock win in the women’s event.
Yelling, 35, only came out of a year-long retirement last month but led from start to finish to beat Rosa Morato by seven seconds. She said: “I just wanted to go out hard, because I know that’s how I race better, to just go out and hang on for as long as possible.”
