Pret A Manger for dinner? Lunch hotspot tries out evening dining menu in Strand

The saviour of stomachs across the city come lunchtime is branching out with a Pret A Manger "after dark" concept.

Never again need you eat anywhere other than Pret – the chain has begun serving up all the major meals in the form of breakfast, lunch and – now – dinner, with a new evening menu.

Pret's Strand store will host a trial evening menu featuring a selection of dishes and even alcoholic drinks until 11pm in the evening, in a bid to serve up some profit from the no doubt brisk night-time trade in the capital.

On the menu are spicy meatballs, sweet potato wedges, chipotle chicken toasties and a selection of salads. There are also BBQ pulled pork and mac 'n' cheese, which appear on the day menu.

It isn't just Pret's day range served up on a proper plate with cutlery though. On the drinks front, there's a choice of red and white wines, prosecco, and that hipster favourite – craft beer. There will also be a soft jazz soundtrack and even candlelight.

There's no plans for Pret to roll it out to the rest of its 300 stores (not yet at least), but anyone passing on their way into the West End can drop in and give it a go. Though not perhaps, for a date.
