Ukip leader Nigel Farage has called for a new bank holiday to be created to mark the UK's vote to leave the European Union.
Speaking this morning, Farage called for 23 June to be marked as an “independence day” holiday, and said that the referendum had been won by a disconnection between Westminster and the concerns of Britons.

“This is a victory for ordinary, decent people, against the big merchant banks, against the big businesses and against big politics,” he said.
“The EU is failing. The EU is dying. I hope we've knocked the first brick out of the wall,” Farage said.
The Ukip leader added that he was optimistic that euroscepticism would also win out in countries like Netherlands, Denmark, Austria and Sweden, and called for "a Brexit government" to begin departure renegotiations "as soon as humanly possible".
