Liam Fox has announced three new trade offices to be opened in the US in a bid to promote UK business across the country.

The international trade secretary announced the new offices while visiting Chicago as part of a three stop US tour.

Fox has already visited Washington, and will head to Los Angeles tomorrow where he will meet businesses, including the teams behind social app Snapchat.

The UK will open the new trade offices in Minneapolis, San Diego and Raleigh.

Each will promote UK business, as well as economic and political ties.

They follow 11 other sites launched across the US.

In his first trip overseas since returning to government, Fox noted that a trade office in Seattle has helped to secure £8m in capital investment and 1,000 jobs in the UK.

“Our ambitious vision for an open and outward-looking UK economy includes growing our footprint in the most important markets around the world and these 3 cities offer exciting opportunities to boost trade and investment,” Fox said.
