Portobello Road Gin is opening the UK’s first gin restaurant, hotel and distilling experience

Portobello Road Gin is capitalising on the UK's "ginaissance" by opening an all-in-one gin-themed restaurant, bar, hotel, museum, distillery and off-licence shop.

The venue, called The Distillery, is the first of its kind in the UK.

The ground floor features a bar stocked with gin and a range of other spirits created on-site and abroad. The spirits verge on the experimental (think avocado and olive oil vodka), but the menu features well-known British classics.

On another floor, visitors can share food and drink at a Spanish-inspired tapas bar complete with a menu of high-class gins.

The top floor holds a private dining room fixed with its own bar and The Distillery's coveted three bespoke guest rooms.

Bookings have already come in from across Europe and even further abroad, founder of Portobello Road Gin and The Distillery said.

The Ginstitute, the company's already successful gin-making experience, outgrew its original venue and has a new home in The Distillery. Visitors here can make their own blend of gin while learning the long history of the spirit with The Distillery's "ginstructors".

The gin museum shows off alcohol-related artefacts, including the first-ever English cocktail book and an off-licence shop where you can buy the company's wares.

The Distillery opens to the public on 16 December, just in time for Christmas.
