THE DUCHESS of Cambridge has been taken to hospital in the early stages of labour, Kensington Palace announced today.

The Duchess – formerly Kate Middleton – travelled by car to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington this morning with her husband the Duke of Cambridge.

She reportedly arrived at the hospital at around 6am, with an announcement coming from Kensington Palace around an hour-and-a-half later.

The Duke will remain with her at the hospital until she gives birth.

The Duchess had been due to give birth in mid-July, meaning she has gone into labour over a week later than expected.
