Analyst Views: What was your reaction to Carpetright’s results and the board changes?

FREDDIE GEORGE | CANTOR FITZGERALD

With Carpetright coming close to completing a number of initiatives (58 per cent of the store estate has now been modernised), it feels as though it is in a vacuum, awaiting new management to stamp its authority on strategy. We remain convinced that the concept is not in tune with evolving trends in the sector.

KEITH BOWMAN | HARGREAVES LANSDOWN

With no in-depth update on current trading, Carpetright has yet to prove that it has turned the corner. Management changes are still being implemented, while the valuation is still seen as providing little room for disappointment. For now, analyst opinion remains sceptical in tone, currently pointing towards a sell.

JOHN STEVENSON | PEEL HUNT

With tight cost and margin control in the UK and Europe, we see scope for recovery in 2015. We continue to retain concerns regarding the scale of change in the retail management board over the course of the next six months, particular given the new chief executive’s lack of big box home related retailing experience.
