BBC debate: Here’s what Twitter commentators made of Nigel Farage’s attack on left-wing audience

The BBC leaders' debate had clashes on all sides, but Nigel Farage was very much everyone's favourite target.

After Farage argued immigration was a driving factor in the rise of house prices, the other leaders piled in on him. However, Farage also turned to an interesting tactic of attacking the audience.

The Ukip leader said the audience was especially "left-wing" even by the BBC's standards. But Farage responded to a hard-hitting attack from his opponents, saying the real audience is at home.

Here's what the some political commentators made of the incident.

Why that moment when he turned on the audience worked perfectly for Farage http://t.co/LGXuGGxxVy #bbcdebate

Stupid of @Nigel_Farage to attack the #BBCDebate audience. Although the audience does seem to be very leftist.

Major gaffe by Farage: never attack the audience. #BBCDebate

— George Eaton (@georgeeaton) April 16, 2015

Farage has lost the audience in the hall. He'll be delighted. Really. This #bbcdebate is a left-wing echo chamber.

— Iain Martin (@iainmartin1) April 16, 2015

Farage has started attacking the audience. PUT YOUR TIN FOIL HAT AWAY NIGEL #bbcdebate
