Blast from the past: There’s now a santa’s grotto for adults, featuring selfies and free booze

Santa Claus is coming to Canary Wharf today- although he’s done away with the cheap toys and false beard, and things have become rather more grown up.

Yep, after research revealed 76 per cent of Londoners think Christmas is not the same when you are no longer a child (probably because we’re buying more gifts than receiving), Canary Wharf decided its worker needed a treat. And what better way to get them in the Christmas spirit than a trip to santa’s grotto?

Canary Wharf has launched a modern take on the traditional Santa’s grotto – but just for grown-ups. The grotto will feature music from a live DJ and free Buck’s fizz.

Let’s not to forget the main man: “Hip Nic” is a contemporary St. Nicholas, played by Parisian hipster and model, Philippe Dumas. And, instead of creepily inviting you to sit on his knee, Hip Nic will be available to take selfies from 12pm until 3pm. Traditional Santa is sooo 2015.

The season has also brought us plenty of treats – Christmas adverts have taken over our social feeds, and we've been tasting the best sandwiches this season has to offer, so no need to worry if you need more than a selfie with Santa to get you in a festive spirit.
