Britain’s most popular jobs: Lawyers and accountants beat Hollywood movie stars, models and Olympic athletes

When it comes to the most desirable careers, Britons increasingly prize books over looks, with professions such as law and accountancy beating Olympic athletes, Hollywood movie stars and models.

But this seemingly topsy-turvy outcome is in line with a broader trend, which saw jobs that were once considered geeky or less cool clinch the top spots in a new YouGov survey.

"Instead of actors and musicians, it seems that an aura of prestige still surrounds the quiet, intellectual life enjoyed by authors, librarians and academics," YouGov said.

So it seems people are more likely to hanker after the career path of human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin Clooney, rather than that of her husband Hollywood actor George Clooney.
