Covington & Burling
The law firm has appointed Daniel Pavin to its London-based European life sciences practice as a partner.

Pavin is one of the UK’s leading life sciences transactional lawyers, with experience advising on both non-contentious and contentious matters, including commercial, partnering and collaboration agreements, mergers, acquisitions and strategic investments, contract disputes and data protection and privacy issues.

Aviva Investors
The asset manager has hired Erich Gerth as global business development director to head up its business development and marketing teams.

Gerth, who will also join the firm’s executive committee, has over 22 years of asset management experience, having most recently been chief executive of Janus International, where he was responsible for Janus Capital’s non-US institutional and financial institutions businesses in Europe, Asia, Japan and Australia. Prior to that, he was vice president and national sales director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Kingston Smith
The accountancy firm has promoted Tom Moore to partner in its financial services team. Moore joined the firm in January 2002 and is also a member of the financial services faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Mano River Resources
The gold, iron ore and diamond explorer has appointed Kirill S. Zimin to its board as representative of Severstal Resources, as part of an agreement with the latter regarding its investment in Mano. Zimin joined Severstal in 2006 as senior manager for strategy and corporate development.
