Controversial back Beale could still feature on Wallabies’ tour

CONTROVERSIAL back Kurtley Beale could still feature on Australia’s tour of Europe despite his chequered disciplinary record, says Wallabies’ assistant coach Nathan Grey.

The New South Wales Waratahs star was fined £24,6000 by Australian rugby chiefs last week after a disciplinary tribunal found the 25- year-old had breached the governing body’s code of conduct.

Beale was found guilty of sending an offensive picture message to a female Australian Rugby Union official, a saga which led to the resignation of coach Ewen McKenzie.

Beale was dropped for the Tests against Argentina and New Zealand as McKenzie’s replacement Michael Cheika decided against his selection, although Grey insists a recall remains a possibility.

“We know Kurtley is working hard to get back up to speed with his physical condition,” said Grey. “He could possibly join us on this tour once he gets back in shape and is ready to go.”
