Iconic City restaurant Coq d’Argent is set to move to a new home in the Square Mile, swapping No.1 Poultry for a riverside location at One Millennium Bridge.

The move, which is expected to be completed in January 2027, will mark the end of a 28 year residency in the building.

The new site will include “expansive rooftop gardens” designed by Chelsea gold medallist Andy Sturgeon as well as views of both the Thames and St Pauls, with restaurant owner Evolv Collection describing it as “even more dramatic” than the original.

Earlier this year we revealed No. 1 Poultry will undergo extensive redevelopment, forcing Coq d’Argent to seek new premises.

French fine dining restaurant Coq d’Argent has long been a favourite among City workers, with its Burgundian cooking proving a hit among well-heeled bankers and its terrace winning plaudits including a 2025 Toast the City Award for Best Roof-terrace.

All change in the Square Mile

The Coq d’Argent move is the latest shake-up for classic Square Mile restaurants. Last week CityAM exclusively revealed restaurant tycoon Richard Caring is in advanced talks to buy 1 Lombard Street, marking his first foray into the restaurant business since he sold his empire £1.4bn sale of his empire, which included The Ivy Collection, Sexy Fish, Scott’s, J Sheekey and Annabel’s. Both Caring and 1 Lombard Street owner Jessen declined to comment.

Martin Williams, CEO Evolv Collection, said: “Coq d’Argent is woven into the fabric of the City – a restaurant where deals have been struck, engagements celebrated and countless bottles of great Burgundy shared for nearly 30 years. Sir Terence Conran created something truly iconic at No. 1 Poultry, and it was essential that its next home be every bit as extraordinary.

“One Millennium Bridge, with its rooftop gardens and unrivalled views of St Paul’s and the Thames, is exactly that. This is not a farewell – it is the beginning of Coq d’Argent’s most exciting chapter yet. I am sure it will do Sir Terence proud.”
