Plans to build a £230m apartment block on the Isle of Dogs were given the green light today, joining a growing list of residential towers set for development in London’s Docklands.

Central London developer LBS Properties is set to start construction on the 48-storey scheme for 332 flats near Canary Wharf after being given planning permission by Tower Hamlets council earlier today.

The South Quay site at 225 Marsh Wall is set to join a series of other high-rise residential schemes in the area, including Berkeley Group’s £150m 68-storey tower on South Quay Plaza and Ballymore’s joint venture with EcoWorld on Wardian London.

Areas such as Marsh Wall have enjoyed growing investment over the last several years, with the planned Canary Wharf Crossrail station expected to bring more residents and workers into the area.

Nick Crawford, Managing Director at LBS Properties, said: “We are delighted to have received planning permission for this significant development, that will provide high-quality new homes, commercial space, and extensive public realm, contributing to the evolution of the South Quay area as an attractive place to live and work. It will combine with The Madison, due to complete in 2020, to provide a new public square for Marsh Wall East, and over 750 new homes in two slender towers.”
