Horse racing betting: Take Hills’ Jadaayil to land lucky last on the Knavesmire

While the likes of Richard Fahey and Kevin Ryan should never be ignored at York, and Mark Johnston-trained three-year-olds are always worth a second look, it’s Charlie Hills who holds the key to the final race on day two of the Ebor Festival.

His JADAAYIL is one of 14 lining up for the fillies’ handicap (4.55pm) and I think she could run a huge race at around 11/2.

The daughter of Oasis Dream was well supported on both of her starts as a two-year-old but failed to get her head in front.

She was beaten a neck by subsequent Listed winner Czabo before disappointing in testing conditions at Haydock.

The faith was finally repaid when she scored on her seasonal reappearance at 3/1 during the Craven meeting, proving that she goes well fresh.

Hills has had a few problems with her since then, but she has been ready to run for a couple of weeks now and I expect her to prove much better than her mark of 84 this season.

The opener is the £300,000 Goffs Yearling Stakes (1.55pm) where a maximum field of 20 will go to post.

DANIELSFLYER only failed by a nose against his rival here, Legendary Lunch, in the Listed Woodcote Stakes at Epsom in June and I expect David Barron’s inmate to reverse the form.

My selection put in a tremendous late effort that day and has a 5lb pull at the weights this time.

Barron has kept him back for this valuable prize and quicker ground could help bring out further improvement.

Take the 8/1 with Betway who are offering money back if your horse finishes second in this race.

Pointers

Danielsflyer e/w, 1.55pm York

Jadaayil, 4.55pm York
