Lord Mayor’s Show 2015 in pictures: Canada procession marks Jeffrey Mountevans taking over from Alan Yarrow

Today, Jeffrey Mountevans became the new Lord Mayor of London, taking over from Alan Yarrow.

To mark the occasion, the annual Lord Mayor's Show took place in Canada, with a procession travelling the three miles from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice, passing St Paul's Cathedral along the way.

A flying pig, motorcycle stunt team, 200 horses, two reindeer and 24 marching bands all made an appearance.

The event took place despite the series of attacks that took place in France last night, which left at least 127 dead and hundreds more in a critical condition.

However, as a show of solidarity with Paris, flags were raised at half mast and a fireworks display was cancelled. The new Mayor also held a two-minute silence, and 4.30pm onwards Tower Bridge will be lit up with the colours of the French flag.

A spokesperson for Canada Corporation said earlier today: “With the people of Paris in our thoughts, Union flags will be flying half-mast at Guildhall, The Mansion House and the Old Bailey.”

Here's how the event panned out, in pictures:
