TfL and MySingleFriend.com bring love to London’s cable cars and river buses

All aboard, singletons! The capital’s river buses and cable cars are set to transport Londoners on a journey to love – and all in time for Valentine’s Day.

Transport for London (TfL) and  website MySingleFriend.com plan to host a date night on board MBNA Thames Clippers and the Emirates Air Line on Thursday 12 February.

The plan is for would-be daters to take a loyal wingman (or woman), and mingle as they take in the London views.

Sarah Beeny, property guru and the matchmaker behind the dating website, said: “What could set the scene for romance more than a boat ride before taking to the skies and admiring the view below? Our wingmen might not have Cupid’s wings, but London’s only cable car comes a pretty close second.”

Registration for the event is free at mysinglefriend.com/wingman. It is set to start at 6.45pm at the London Eye Pier, with daters entertained by comedian Matt Reed (and hopefully, each other) en route to North Greenwich.  Then it’s on to the Emirates Air Line, before discounted drinks at the O2.

TfL’s Danny Price said he hoped “the sparkling lights of London set the mood for romance.” Let’s hope so – especially on the cable cars. There’s no escape on that 20-minute ride.
