The pound may still be down, but don't write off travel to the US just yet. Norwegian airline is flying to the rescue to boost budget options.

Norwegian, Europe's third largest low-cost airline is creating 55 per cent more budget flights to the US from next summer, from 22 to 34 flights per week.

Norwegian offers the UK's cheapest direct flights to eight US destinations from Gatwick Airport starting at £135 for economy or £399 for premium seats.

The airline has more than doubled its long-haul passengers from London Gatwick in the past year.

From 10 August, the airline will offer two flights instead of one per day to New York with a 9 a.m. arrival time fit for business travel.

Another popular business option will be the airline's London to LA route, which will increase to 7 flights per week as the second US route to get a daily service from Norwegian.

Five weekly departures to California's Bay Area, three weekly services to Orlando and two weekly flights to Ft. Lauderdale will also help holiday seekers and business travellers alike.

Thomas Ramdahl, chief commercial officer at Norwegian said the ariline's US flights are more popular than ever. "By expanding the number of transatlantic flights from Gatwick, we are giving tourists and business passengers more flexibility, attractive fares and convenient schedules."

Ramdahl said this is just the start of Norwegian's UK expansion.
