  • Ryanair share price rises as passenger numbers soar to a record high

    September 3, 2014

Outspoken Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary stayed resolutely quiet this morning as the budget airline announced record monthly traffic.  Passenger numbers grew four per cent, from 9 million in August 2013 to 9.4 million in the same month this year,  pushing shares up 1.35 per cent in early trading.  Marketing manager Kenny Jacobs put the rise [...]

Budget airline Ryanair is looking to entice companies focused on their bottom line to choose its newly launched business class service, as it aims to become the default option for short-haul corporate travel. Ryanair, Europe’s largest no-frills airline, has attracted controversy in the past with mooted ideas of standing- only flights and charging to use [...]

    August 21, 2014

The outspoken boss of budget airline Ryanair will begin talks with the Cypriot government about a possible takeover of Cyprus Airways, despite previously claiming he was "not particularly interested" in buying the airline. EasyJet enjoyed a 7.7 per cent growth in passenger number for July compared to the previous year –around 6.5m compared to 5.976. The passenger load factor increased by 1.3 percentage points to 92.2 per cent. The budget airline saw its third quarter [...]

  • Ryanair’s charm offensive pays off with 152 per cent profit rise

    July 28, 2014

A strong Easter performance and its new focus on customer service have been highlighted by Ryanair as some of the reasons it enjoyed an 11 per cent rise in revenue and a four per cent rise in passenger numbers in the first quarter. The buoyant results come after a string of less successful announcements, with [...]

  • Ryanair holidays on the rise but bikinis are out as “cabin crew stunners” calendar paused

    July 28, 2014

Michael “What part of ‘no refund’ don’t you understand” O’Leary took himself away from the job of airline spokesperson last year, after he announced the company would be replacing its notoriously unhelpful customer service strategy with something of a charm offensive. The secret weapon of said charm offensive was revealed as new chief marketing officer [...]

  • Ryanair share price rises after full-year profit expectations revised

Shares climbed on the news and were up 4.6 per cent at pixel time.  The revision comes, Ryanair said, because of expectations that full-year traffic will rise by 5 [...]

  • EU slaps Ryanair with fine over French aid money

    July 23, 2014

The repayments relate to operating at three regional French airports, Angouleme, Nimes and Pau Pyrénées. Ryanair said it had instructed its lawyers to appeal against these rulings.
