Bad news, Londoners.

For unless you're residing in Richmond upon Thames, you're not living in the happiest place in the capital. And while property site Rightmove has compiled the best places to live in the UK, five of the least happy places can be found in London.

Still, Bromley and Camden residents can feel pretty content, as they come in second and third among the happiest places to live in London.

2. Bromley
3. Camden
4. Hackney
5. Waltham Forest
6. Sutton
7. Wandsworth
8. Southwark
9. Greenwich
10. Westminster

Leader of Richmond Council, Cllr Paul Hodgins, said: "It is a superb place to live and work, and our residents and businesses are happy as a result of the quality of life in the borough.

“We have physical beauty in parks, open spaces, and our stretch of the Thames. But more importantly we have an incredibly active community, with over 18,000 volunteers."

Richmond came sixth in the overall top 10, but the Warwickshire town of Royal Leamington Spa has been crowned the happiest place to live in Britain, followed by Leigh-on-Sea, Wirral, Merseyside and Cheshire, and Harrogate.

More than 17,000 people were asked how happy they were with aspects of where they live, with community spirit, the friendliness of locals, and the amenities and local services all taken into account.

Royal Leamington Spa scored highly for friendly neighbours and a strong sense of belonging though Rightmove did point out the average asking price of a home there was above the national average of £310,003, coming in at £330,848.

Now if you're wondering where comes up top for happiest locations to work, you may want to consult Robert Half's rankings from earlier this year. London came fifth in the rankings, with Yorkshire and Humber taking the top spot.
