Rolls-Royce today announced plans to cut another 150 senior manager positions.

The engineering company has cut 50 senior managers in recent months, and it aims to cut around 400 out of 2,000 positions in the coming years as part of an effort to save between £150-200m.

The overall workforce of Rolls-Royce is just over 50,000.

More than half of the latest 150 to go are based in the UK, with the rest predominantly coming from Germany and the United States.

A Rolls-Royce spokesperson said: “We are giving details of the latest stage of our transformation to our own people. This involves the restructuring of the next layer of our senior management and will result in a number of people leaving the business.

"Our ongoing transformation programme is designed to remove complexity and reduce cost by simplifying our processes as well as our structure."

The spokesperson added: "The detail we are announcing to staff is part of a programme announced on 12 November 2015 that we expect to generate incremental gross cost savings of between £150m and £200m a year with the full benefits from the end of 2017 onwards."
