Teetan to continue his great Valley form

By: Wally Pyrah

Karis Teetan has had 35 winners at Happy Valley this season

IT’S BEEN another good campaign for jockey Karis Teetan. The Mauritian Magician has consistently hit the bullseye throughout the season with 76 winners to his name and firmly cementing his position as the third best jockey in the territory behind Moreira and Purton.

Teetan has been particularly accomplished at Happy Valley, with a record of 35 victories including a four-timer last month.

Records also show that the 31-year-old has an impressive 54% win and place record from his 183 rides at the city track this season.

He has his card marked in all nine races on the programme, including course specialist Victory In Hand in the first division of the Broom Handicap (12:45pm) and the consistent Management Supreme in second division at 2.15pm.

Telecom Smart is another with a leading chance in the 3.15pm but his best ride may prove to be the lightly raced and potentially well-handicapped FAIRBAULT in the Sauternes Cup Handicap (1.45pm) over five furlongs.

Paul O’Sullivan’s three-year-old has had little chance to show his true colours – either drawn wide or too inexperienced – until a fortnight ago, when he produced an eye-catching performance, dashing fast and late in a smart time to finish third behind Wild West Wing.

That form can be rated even better with an inexperienced claimer in the saddle and drawn widest of all.

This time with an inside draw a major plus and Teetan taking over in the saddle, he can surprise better fancied rivals Amazing Rocky and Party Warrior.
