A BBC inspired theme park is set to launch after the corporation agreed a deal for its intellectual property to be used at a new £2bn entertainment resort in Kent.

The BBC is letting Paramount Resort take inspiration from Auntie’s popular TV shows which could include Doctor Who, Top Gear and Sherlock.

BBC Worldwide director of live events Stephen Davies said: “We’re always looking for opportunities to extend fans’ enjoyment of their favourite shows and the idea behind this resort is a really exciting way of celebrating the very special place the BBC has in British culture.”

The attraction is being built by London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) and is slated for launch in 2020. The group already has a deal with Hollywood studio Paramount to build attractions based on movies such as Star Trek, Mission Impossible and The Godfather.

BBC Worldwide, the broadcaster's commercial arm, and LRCH have made an initial deal while the characters and brands to be used have yet to be agreed.

Three of its biggest programmes around the world, Doctor Who, Top Gear and Sherlock are likely to be favourites to be used in the development’s entertainment shows and 12 major rides as it seeks to attract British and foreign visitors.

What could those rides be? Here we take a guess at what visitors could expect from the BBC theme park experience.

  • The director general carousel- A whirlwind ride recreating life at the top of the BBC.
  • The One horror Show- Sit and shiver at the terror of the theme music from this evening show seeps into your brain and Z-list “celebrities” leap out shouting their views on inane topics at you.
  • The Sherlock bungee jump- Don a sweeping wool jacket and tell your mates that you made the leap (or did you?)
  • All Conservative-voting visitors will feel like rides lean to the left. All Labour-voting visitors will feel like rides lean to the right.
  • Ukip-voting visitors will only enjoy the Top Gear dodgems.
  • Visitors will receive a souvenir video of their trip narrated by David Attenborough.
